hi my boyfriend and i are planning to take a weekend coarse in california to get a tefl certificate to teach english in barcelona. Whats your advice on pay, jobs and is it possible? were both american needing a job to offer us papers or a work visa we know they pay little but were 2 people sharing a 1 bedroom so we think we can afford rent and everything since were 2 instead of 1. is our plan possible?

I'm not positive about the pay (12 euros/hr, starting average, I think), but two people working for one apt. would definitely work. BCN is more expensive than it used to be, but paying rent, groceries and going out is no problem on this salary.

However since you don't have papers it'll be harder to find jobs. Getting sponsored for papers is rare especially with all the other teachers coming from anglophone countries that don't need them. You should try anyway if you feel strongly about it. Barcelona is worth it. There is always a chance that you'll find a way through all these paper requirements.
