Rosetta Stone is the BEST! They throw you RIGHT into it! And you actually learn! I wanted to learn Italian, and the demo CD-ROM they sent had me speaking Spanish, Italian, even Farsi! Down side: it's about $400 for the level 1 set, but I think well worth it.
PS it HAS a feature to correct pronunciation and cadence, etc. Even teaches some grammar I think.

you need to practice with a real chinese person who can correct your prononciation

Some people like pimsleur.

its expensive though.
