As an ESL teacher (in the US), do I need to work in a school or university? Can't I just teach by myself at the local Lion's Club or library?
I'm interested in teaching adults.

Another place to check is with churches. Some offer free ESL classes.
Also contact your local university, they might have a Writing or Reading Lab for you to work in.

I would get in touch with major corporations who might offer adult education to employees with little English. You should also go to the mulitlingual dept of your city's school district and ask there. They offer English classes in schools who have a high ESL population of parents.
