Adverb clauses are dependent clauses modifying the main clause by specifying when, why, conditions, etc. When they begin a sentence, they are usually followed by a comma. Later in the sentence, there is usually no comma. Example: He ran to his class because he was late. Adverb clause "because he was late" tell WHY he ran. Example: Although they are inexpensive, Timex watches keep on ticking. Adverb clause here ends with comma.
