Can u give me some tips for English paper?
I have my paper of English of class 9 on the coming Tuesday. I am from Karachi, Pakistan. I have learnt each and every thing but still I am curious about the paper. Can you give me some tips to secure the maximum marks in English as English is a subject in which u get the least marks. Examiner cuts marks even without mistakes. So can u tell me what to do to impress the Examiner so that he may be convinced to give me good marks. E.g. The format of the paper, the way of answering questions etc. or some other tip or technique which helped u in securing good marks in English subject...
Please give me ur replies sincerely and honestly..
Waiting for ur responses...
Thanks!!
May God bless all those who answer me sincerely!!

First have someone who speaks English as a first language to proof read it.
Ask another teacher to proof it as well and ask that teacher if there is anything you missed.
And then good luck, hope you do well.

If your school has a writing lab, that would be a great place to start. Take the paper to them with all of the written instructions your examiner has given you. Also, if you don't mind spending money, you can have your paper commented on by trained tutors at smarthinking.com. It is worth it. I also agree with the first answerer. The more attention this paper can get from you and others, the more successful it will be.

Here are 2 sites that may help you.
A comprehensive site that covers loads of works by loads of authors, such as theme, character analysis, so on and so forth.
http://www.sparknotes.com/lit
Once there navigate around and use the search facility to find what you need. Highly recommended. Good Luck.

Re: Can u give me some tips for English paper?
This is a sincere yet brief response. I used to be a writing consultant at the University of Texas at Austin, and can certainly give you some insight.
1. Audience and Context: if you're writing a detailed paper in advance, there are many formats and editing / style techniques you could research and apply to create a great paper with enough content and structure. If you are taking a writing exam, this is a whole different process because you have limited time.
2. In an essay exam, always apply generic structure and format:
A. Introduction (generally introduce subject; * must include concise/ clear thesis statement outlining in 1 or 2 sentences what points or arguments you will be making)
B. Body
Generally, 1-5 paragraphs: you must now expand on the earlier points made in introduction/ thesis statement. This is where you present quotes, information, and essential content.
C. Conclusion:
This ties together the earlier points of the (A) introduction and (B) body of the essay, concluding your arguments clearly, and taking a more definite stance on the subject. Therefore, this is to provide closure to the essay, to make your final argument, and to summarize the entire subject in to 1-2 paragraphs.
