Can you help with a grammar/interjection/verb problem?
In "Hurry! My house is on fire!" Is the interjection "Hurry!" a verb with the subject being understood "you" and the complete thought being "You hurry!"?Someone mentioned something about it being an adverb, but I couldn't figure out how that works. I tried looking it up in a textbook and dictionary but neither gave me a direct answer.

Yes, it is a verb here with the "you" understood (think "can YOU please hurry?" or "YOU must hurry")
If it were an adverb it would be hurriedly - like he moved hurriedly (describing the verb moved...)

I don't think that it's an interjection. An interjection is a word like "oh" or "hey"(i.e. Oh! My house is on fire! or Hey! My house is on fire!). The word "hurry" in your sentence is a verb being used in the imperative mood to express a command.

An adverb describes a verb, so in this case "Hurry" is not an adverb, just a plain verb used as an interjection.

Re: Can you help with a grammar/interjection/verb problem?
It is most definatly NOT an adverb.
reasons:
-hurriedly is the adverb of hurry
-hurry is only used as a verb or noun
-hurry is not describing a verb/adverb/adjective
hope that helps
(please choose for best answer)

"Hurry" is a verb in the imperative (command) form. I believe the subject is implied to be the party(s) to whom the command is addressed.
