Choose Mizuno's new MP R-12 wedge to be your wedge
The
Mizuno's new MP R-12 wedges is a return to Mizuno's traditional wedge model design. A more tapered hosel area means that more of the clubface is revealed at address. A thick top edge enchances spin and trajectory control, while a more rounded leading edge makes it easier for players to open the face of the Mizuno's new MP R-12 wedges.
In the lower lofts, the
Mizuno's new MP R-12 wedgesis shaped to more closely resemble a standard pitching wedge thanks to a narrower Quad Cut which is suits to fuller, squarer impact. The higher lofts (54 and above) in the R-Series have a more specialised wedge look, with its versitile C-Grind sole design and a wide, shallower Quad Cut that aids shorter shots where the ball is not compressed as much as a full shot.
The
Mizuno's new MP R-12 wedges is the first round shape wedge from Mizuno for a while following the recent teardrop T10 and T11 wedges. The intent continues the excellent good looks of previous versions and as usual they feel a little lighter than most of the competition. The feel from the forged heads is excellent and we like the different depth of grooves in the gap wedges to channel out grass and water from full shots.
Mizuno wedges usually seem to site a little tighter to the ground and the R12 wedge is no exception with a wide range of low bounce lofts. Combined with some lovely sole grinds this makes opening the face or playing from tight lies very easy and the Mizuno's new MP R-12 wedges is one of the best wedges in the market for this. Well worth trying.
