English Language Arts and Reading Teachers, help this teacher here?
Ok, I am a new Teacher and I am not hired yet, what should I do to make myself more marketable?
As an English Language Arts and Reading teacher what would make me more desirable?

I don't know why some people are compelled to be such complete a**holes when you are asking a legitimate question.
Since all applicants you are competing against for a position have their degrees, licenses, etc, you need to set yourself apart from them with "real life" accomplishments, outside of the school context. Do things like volunteering at your local library to read to kids during story hour, start a book club, write poetry. Are there things from your academic career that would catch a district's attention? Participation in journalism class, awards, etc?
Licensed teachers are a dime a dozen (sadly)you need to set yourself apart somehow and be able to demonstrate that you love and live what you teach.

In this district any language arts position that has been posted over the past several years has had at least 200+ applications within three days of the posting. If you have no more clue than you do, I guess you are just out of luck.
Why not try a real job?

Try volunteering in a teaching or education related job. Or try tutoring. Experience is the number one thing that makes you more "desirable" than all the other college grads just like you.
Also, make sure you have ALL the credentials you need. Look into special credentials. Join professional associations for educators.
Finally, broaden your search area. Include private schools, don't limit yourself to a specific grade level, consider what other subjects you can teach. I taught high school English for a year then the admin moved me into my degree area (art).
Remember also to let everyone you know that you are looking for a position. Opportunities can come from very unexpected places!
