Hi I am a university student from Iran and I have a few problems in learning English.Could you please tell me how can I solve them?
My biggest problem is in the listening part. For example when I listen to American songs the singer sings something and I hear another thing. For instance:
He/She says: "we are with you" and I hear "we love you" I will say more examples:
"why are we strangers when"="but I will be strange as well !"
"our life was strong"="I love the storm!!!!"
"every friday my head is spinning round and round"="everybody my hands wheeling up and down!"
"I am not gonna make you stay"="I am not gonna beg you still !"
"why cant you understand"="what get you understand !"
"its hard to jut forget the past to pass"="its hard to just to get to past to past!"
"dont wantcha for the weekend"="dont wantcha fall in weekend !"
I would not understand what they actually say unless I visit www.lyrics.com! Most of the times it is just IMPOSSIBLE to understand what they say specialy in songs and movies.for example in Nelly`s my place song I can just hear vague words like:I use to promaself ofbehj gdfhj gfsd bhfk hsk dhfIs!!!!!! I mean I cannot recognise the words wich he uses let alone to understand it! Is there a solution for my problem or is it natural for language learners?

it's natural, and a lot of the time in songs even English speakers hear the wrong lyrics. Just keep learning is all i can suggest.

we can't understand song lyrics either, most of the time. you should try to find samples of people speaking rather than singing.

My friend, Rap is about flow, you don't always have to know what they are saying! Its just that, if you feel it you feel it..
And songs are SUNG, not said.. So its normal if you don't happen to understand what they say at first..
But when it comes to learning (listening) to english. Then listen to conversations, watch movies, vary your listening spectrum by spotting different accents and conversations that run between different cultures.

well thing is it differs from person to another and different accents .... so the more u listen and more u talk the more ull improve.... one more thing usually singers have the worst pronounciation ever cause its totally a mood thing....its not about wrong or right
so if i were in ur shoes just hear out ppl who talk proper english and then by time ull find everything much easier

It took quite sometime for all of us to learn our native language, and I'm quite certain that it will take even longer to learn a foreign language. I know what you are up against because I have been studying Japanese for many years. Stick with it, and ask for help from native speakers of the English language.
