hi, I am an english teacher in Brazil.
We have a party coming up in my school which is all about english. I need ideas on what i can do (I want to organise a day of english - english music, decorations, food, games etc - can you give me any ideas about what type of foods, decorations, games, etc or any other ideas that will help me make this a really good day for my students and help them to learn about the english language. (this is more of an english day then a celebration of one specific culture, but any ideas you can give me (for example american hotdogs, music from england, games from australia...........)

I find that the best parties require a theme and given that you have not limited your party to a particular region, I'd suggest limiting it someone. For example, if your students are in their teens, you could choose 'music' and then prepare English songs to listen to, some songs to sing, possible some dancing, such as Scottish dancing (videos available and instructions can be found on the Net). The room could be decorated as a disco.. You could make it fancy dress: but each student needs to dress as a pop star. A talent show, such as Elvis impersonators might go down well. Whatever you choose, I sincerely hope that you have a great time.

You may want to focus on one country and decorate with that country's colors.....or you may want to have samples from all of the English speaking countries. I am from the USA. So for the USA you may have hotdogs, french fries, chips, grilled cheese, chicken n dumplings (if you need help with this e-mail me hambone1985@yahoo.com) for games if you can go outside play baseball....or you may make an indoor baseball game where to move bases they have to answer questions in/about English. for music, the Star Spangled Banner (national anthem) a variety of groups such as Britney Spears, Lincoln Park, Metallica, Jay-Z, etc. Well please e-mail me if you need recipies or help.

Select a grade level on the left hand menu, and click on it.
Select the subject, and click on the subject drop-down arrow.
Select a word set from the drop-down menu and click submit at the bottom of the page.
The top left box will say "find this" and a definition will be listed below. Click on the term that matches the definition. A new definition will appear, and you must find the new definition.
Continue until you have cleared the rest of the board.
