I am a High-school student and I will enter college; I want to know how to get a M.A Degree in English. How many classes to I need to take? Is there a list of the required classes to get an M.A??
Also, I want to teach English abroad. If I want to teach in a foreign country, do I need other special qualifications?? i.e ESL degree??
If anyone knows what is a good path to take to learn English and get a M.A please tell me. I also want to study abroad, is it reccomended to get a M.A degree in a foreign country for example japan?? Or should I focus on my M.A in USA?

Re: Getting a M.A in English......?
Sounds like you have it all planned out!
To get your MA in English you will first need a BA or BS (4 year degree from a university). Usually it helps for applying to masters programs if it is in a related subject area, or if you have a minor in English (or a major works too!).
From personal experience I have seen many people study abroad during their junior year of undergrad. It fits well into most schedules and it is a good time to figure out what you may want to do later in life (aka - do I still want to go abroad for an extended amount of time? masters program?)
If you are getting an MA in English I would recommend taking that route of study in an English speaking country as there will be many more resources available to you.
To teach abroad, some programs want you to have an ESL degree, but not all. If you are a native speaker and finish up a four year degree you are usually qualified for many programs. One program I know people have enjoyed is the JET program which goes to Japan.
