Grammar experts, which of these 2 sentences is correct?

 Grammar experts, which of these 2 sentences is correct?
Which is grammar correct, #1 or #2? What I was trying to say that "defensive" and "disrescpectful" are not the same.
1) There is a huge difference between being disrespectful and being defensive.
2) There is a huge difference between being disrespectful and defensive.

There is nothing grammatically wrong with either sentence. In English, unnecessary repitition of words should be avoided, especially when they are close together. However, I think that in the case of your first sentence the second "being" is necessary for the sake of clarity and by using it there is no possibility of any confusion in the mind of the reader. In this case the repitition is quite acceptable

If you want an explination, #2 is incorrect because there is only one verb (being) after the first clause of the sentence, meaning that it affects both "disrespectful" and "defensive" as one plural object, thus turning it into a fragment and not a total sentence.
