Help Japanese 13y.o. girl to learn English?
My friend "K", elementary student, have been studing English for 4 years.
She is recently losing her interest in it, saying she found it too difficult for her.
I want her to continue her study.
Can anyone give her a tip to study English as a second language.
or, Anyone please cheer her up!

Re: Help Japanese 13y.o. girl to learn English?
I think if I were you, I'd just let her have fun with the language. Just have the letters of the alpahabet out and just make some fun words with them. I really understand how she feels, even though I am not Japanese or learning English, but I am learning Spanish, and I think of it as a bore. English is one of the most complex languages to learn orally, because when you say something, it never, or hardly ever is the same on paper, and all of the vowel sounds make it really difficult.
A tip might also be to watch some English TV shows, with Japanese subtitles if she needs them, or like pick a movie she really likes in Japanese, and switch the language to English so she hears it that way. Ears are where a lot of a language is learned.

Re: Help Japanese 13y.o. girl to learn English?
Is she in Japan? if she is in Japan and experiencing difficulties of learning english, it is true. The English Education system in Japan is very different. They study to pass the English subject and do not speak English. Most, not only her would find it difficult and they lose interest. this is not a tip but a suggestion, it would be better for her to join a homestay program in which her school provides. . Traveling is helpful so she will get used to speak more and having lots of foreign friends helps. If you both have a school break, travel and meet lots of native speakers. Or if you go to karaoke, sing lots of english songs, it helps and it is fun.
