I received my B.A. in English almost two years ago. I´ve been teaching ESL in Mexico, but I feel that, though I enjoy teaching, I would really like to get into the editing business.

I´m planning on going back to school to get my Masters, but I was simply wondering what steps I should take in pursuing this career. I´m not particular, in this early stage, about what I would be editing. I just want to get a better grasp on how to get started.

My guess would be that most editors started out as writers or journalists first. Perhaps you could contact some editors and find out how they got started, but that would be my guess. Break into the journalism field and work your way up.
