I am korean whom people think their english are damn poor.
I have been staying in Australia for 3years and learning english for about 4years now.

but my problem is that I still think my english is not as good as other people who have been learning english as long as I have.

I always listen to english and read anything written in english.
and I don't like even speaking in my own language,

ye.. No problems in reading and listening.. yet sometimes I find some difficuties in speaking and writing english.

I know the best way to improve my speaking is to meet up with native speakers and talk and talk. but I am wondering if there is any other way to improve my speaking and writing,

You're living in Australia, so you have plenty of opportunity to have conversations in English. To tell you the truth though, you sound like a strong-willed person who always tries their best in acheiving goals. I bet you're awesome at English. Sometimes with learning languages, we can think that we're not doing enough.

Just keep reading, listening, and conversing. I know you'll end up a master of the English language!

I taught English to Koreans for about a year recently. The best advice i can give you is to totally immerse yourself in the language. It's good you live in Australia for a while but you have to spend as much time as possible away from other Koreans. You will never improve unless you do.

the way that i have heard was best from other people with english as a second language is to watch television...especially the commercials...they let you hear the words and you can repeat them the correct way without other people having to engage you in conversation...

Keep reading newspapers, magazines, books, etc. Watch American television shows, practice pronouncing words. Just remember, English is very hard to learn, especially American English, we use a lot of slang. You will get better with time. Be patient.

Write essays in English, and have an English professor proofread it. Learn poems and say them aloud a few times a day. Funny, but it helped me. Find a friend who is also struggling and you two could help each other. I used to write notes in English to my friend and she would do too and with time it became so spontaneous. Read as much original literature as you can.

Don't compare yourself to others. Everyone is different and makes progress at their own pace. Remember, your language will get better with time. I am sure it is already very good. But you need to give it some time and practice, practice, practice.

For the writing and listening, you can watch more TV programmes, specially kids channels, you will know much more English which you never expected. For the communication, you have to talk more with others, such as church, elder center, chartity center, or maybe you go to work and talk with your coworkers. It really can help. Have a great day!

read a ton of books and converse a lot with americans

watch movies in english with subtitles in english...
it helps a lot with understanding and pronunciation.

read out loud a book or article in english, it will improve your fluency.

have a talking dictionary in your computer and use it all the time!

you know what the sad part is, you have better grammar than most people who have been speaking english their entire lives. I think you are doing an AMAZING job and the only thing i can say is to just keep doing what your doing. maybe buy an english learning tape for your car so you can listen to sounds and practice making them. I know the biggest issue with learning a different language is the accent. you can know a language perfectly but can have a hard time communicating if you are making the right sounds for some words. good luck! and keep working on it!
