i have obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD. my case is minor.

by the way, to all the people saying that they would love to have it, its not the best thing to have in your life. it can be really aggravating and can ruin relationships if you have major cases of it.

ask your doctor about it because i'm sure there is some medication or something that was found to help treat the symptoms. google or yahoo it.

I share a similar "addiction." I was born with it.

Freud might have had something to say about this ! Tee-hee!!!
I am anal retentive when I painstakingly correct every word and phrase (all exhibiting impeccable penmanship) -on my grocery list!

Actually, it is so refreshing to read something carefully crafted and free from errors. A well written piece is most cogent.

Keep it up!

I don't know what makes you addicted, but I like it. I hate computer jargon and lazy typing so its nice to hear you make an effort to use proper grammar. I wish more people had this addiction.

i think it's called ocd.
over compulsive disorder.
sounds to me like it's not a bad thing... i have to talk with correct grammer on the computer and stay really organized too. if i dont write things neatly, i will write them again when i can take my time and make them look nice.

It's normal for you if you paid attention to your language arts lessons.
It's abnormal for some of your peers who can't do what you are doing because they are either

1) experiencing a learning disability such as hyperactivitiy where they cannot keep attention for more than a couple of seconds

2) illusioned by thinking the current messy style of texting is "cule"; they need a kick in the head to come clean of the erroneous idea.

It's they who are abnormals; your behaviour is quite fine and dandy AFAIAC.

== add ==

One question you need to ask yourself : "Is my tendency to organized, to write neatly, and to talk with correct grammar on the computer causing a problem for me?"

If not, then your self-diagnosis of addiction is probably over-reacting to a minor comment from another person who let you know.

If so, but you are dealing with it with little effort, then it is not a major problem worthy of your concern either.

If so, and you are expending way too much effort to compensate or to "correct" yourself, then you need professional help as one responder suggested.

Since it doesn't run in the family, it may be that you don't want to exhibit those family traits and want to "better" yourself. And it may be the way you were taught in school. I get disgusted with the spelling, syntax and poor grammar on the Internet, too. I don't understand why people use text language while using a computer. It certainly doen't help understanding the question.

I don't know...but if one were to have an addiction, that is the one I would choose!
