Transferring Parliamentary System of government evolving into the different types used -

Transferring of Common Law systems to the new world which was also used in a changed form as government

Transferring systems of commerce and trade and ways of doing business

so the governments and businesses of the new world evolved after and had the British not been there it would have a been a french or spanish system and gone that route as they were also competing for dominance of the new world with The British Empire

Well since the English were the first to really establish colonies in North America, Americans native language is English and wouldn't have been if the English didn't settle North America first. Also by being closely related with England we felt close ties to them in World Wars and chose the Allies side. If North America had been first settled by Germans, North America may not have joined World Wars with the Allies which would have hurt the Allied cause signifigantly.

When the British went into a country unlike the United States they stayed and brought their culture to that country. You will find except for the United States which developed a political system never seen before that time that the governments in those countries that were at one time part of the British Empire have similar governments to Great Britain. The British never bothered learning the local customs and languages therefore the people in those countries if they wanted to do business with the British they had to learn the Bristish customs and language.

That is one of the reasons why English is the international language today.
