How should I express my empathy and compassion in English to someone?
I wish to learn English from you. I am going to sit an exam where I need to communicate with friend who has got Hepatitis virus infection. In that situation, I need to show my empathy, compassion and concern on his problem. Which sentences should I use? Please advice me in simple English.
Thanks in advance.

First ask about his health with one of the following.
"How are you feeling today?"
"I hope you are feeling better today."
"How is your health today?"
Then, offer your assistance with one of these phrases:
"Can I get you some water?"
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Would you like something to drink?"
Then, reassure him that you will try and make things easy and q quick so that he may return to his sleep.
Say one of the following phrases:
"I will try and be q quick, so that you may get your rest."
"I'll be as quick as possible, so you can resume your recovery."
Also, remember to hthak him for the effort by saying:
"Considering your health, I appreciate all that you have done."
"I know that this was not easy for you, so Thanks for your assistance."
"I admire and appreciate your effort and endurance."
If you are so inclined,
offer to pray for him.

"Dear Philip,
I have just heard about your condition and I want you to know that I am here for you. You are not alone in this and I would like to help in any way possible, even if you just need someone to talk to."
