 I want to learn how to play violin is it too late? I have always wanted to learn how to play violin ever since i was in middle school but i was never given the chance because i was learning english and there was no space for music classes. But i really do want to learn hwo to play, I'm 17 years old is it too late? (Should I even try? I'm kind of embarassed because of that... and i heard that you have to start young )

Re: I want to learn how to play violin is it too late? You don't have to start young. I guess it just helps because by the time you're old enough to perform you'll be good. But now you'll just have to wait until you're a little bit older than that.

Especially as you have wanted to learn for so long. 17 is still young for music! people have started learning instruments alot later than you and have gone on to become world famous. so don't worry about age. go get yourself a violin! enjoy it!

Re: I want to learn how to play violin is it too late? Fortunately, music is one of the hobbies for which it is never too late to start.
The only disadvantage is that if you wish to play in a school orchestra, for example, you may have difficulity because your peers may have a 5-10 year head start.
If you have the talent and practice (1 or more hours EVERY day) you may catch up.
Find a good instructor and go for it!

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE. i play the violin since i was little, and i have a friend that's 25, when she finished high school she started studying literature, but she didn't feel it was right for her. one day she came along to one of my auditions, and she liked so much the instrument she said she wanted to learn, but thought maybe it was too late (she was 19 at the time). i told her that was nonsense, she should start right away, so she started taking classes with my teacher, later continuing in a conservatory. she now is concertino in several orchestras and teaches in two high schools. i think that makes my point pretty clear.
