I was taught in elementary school that basically commas are replacing ands. Again, I hate putting a last comma and an and right after it. But yeah, is it correct grammar to say something like: Blood and Gold and Memnoch the Devil and Tale of the Body Thief were all great books, in my opinion.

no the sample sentence you gave just sounds bad.
it is not correct to do that.
you should be like: We bought apples, oranges, and milk.
now the comma after oranges you could take out, but for good measure just leave it there.
