 Learn Cantonese?
Does anyone know of any resources on the internet where you can learn Cantonese for free?
Video and audio files with lessons would be great.
Thank you! I didn't ask your opinion of what language i SHOULD learn, I am going to Hong Kong and would like to learn Cantonese. BUT if what I have read is wrong about Cantonese being the most common language spoken in Hong kong...then please correct me

 Re: Learn Cantonese?
If you have an iPod, there are plenty of Cantonese podcasts available. Especially RHTK: Cantonese, it features a fluent Canto speaker (but she's norwegian) and teaches you phrases and words you'd need to know if you were ever to go to China, and visit the cantonese speaking provinces or HK. In Hong Kong, they will probably speak English to you, but no one can guarantee everyone will! But I'm sure there are plenty of audio/podcasts website available, to get you started I've found some:
http://www.chinese-lessons.com/cantonese/
http://cantonesepod.podbean.com/
Good luck with your learning!

 Re: Learn Cantonese?
The fastest way is to do a "learn cantonese" search on Youtube. I found a fairly traveler friendly one http://youtube.com/watch?v=1nLKUlpKgKc. It's easy and it has most things a tourist would want or need to know. By the way, I highly suggest listening to and learning from the FEMALE'S voice in the clip because her version of the sentences are more casual and, well, the way Cantonese people communicate with each other. The male is just reading the sentences as they are, which is how things work in Mandarin. In Cantonese, we don't always speak the way we write. So, only learn from the FEMALE'S version.

 Re: Learn Cantonese?
Check the bookstores in china town the nearest to your city. Actually you just need to learn how to pronounce Cantonese. The words and phrases are exact Chinese.
Wait, you can also search your local library and some libraries in Chinese communities.
