I am learning Romanian but even though I live here it is still quite slow going and difficult. That has a lot to do with the people we know are all Americans or English speaking Romanians so other than basic greetings and shopping we are not using Romanian very much. So my question is even with someone coming over to help us can any of you offer any tips to make it easier. Tips like post it notes on everything or watching Romanian TV....It is important to my husband and I that we and our children learn Romanian for many reasons so please any thoughts or ideas would help.

Re: Learning Romanian and need tips?
From your questions, it looks like you are in Brasov. That is definitely a manageable enough city for you to get outside the "expat community." My best advice if you choose to follow it is to go to a Romanian church. There are many churches especially of the Baptist and Pentecostal denominations that were sponsored by US churches and in turn, have a worship style similar to what you would find in the States. The good thing about going to church is that you can read the English Bible in service which will help you make more sense of the Romanian they are speaking. The advantage is also that you will network with more Romanian speakers and your children, if they are attending an English language school, will be able to attend Sunday School in Romanian and get a feel for the language that way. I am a non native Romanian speaker who managed to learn Romanian in the US and this was the best way for me to hear. A few hours of Romanian every weeks really tunes your ears into the cognates and helps you understand things, then when you meet and converse with Romanian speakers, you have a wider vocabulary and your kids can hopefully meet some Romanian friends, which will definitely help them to learn the langauge quickly. Bafta! (Good luck)
