 Lyrics as literature?
I'm considering researching and developing a collegiate curriculum that would teach lyrics as literature. Now this wouldn't be a music history course, but an English course. In it, students would learn how to analytically approach lyrics, contextualize them, and apply literary theory concepts.
I want feedback. If you were a college student (probably undergrad) and required to complete a course in English, would this be something you would consider taking? Why or why not?

 Re: Lyrics as literature?
I would LOVE it. I'm always thinking about the meaning of lyrics and trying to interpret it in my own way. This is a fantastic idea, you should definitely go for it. After all, lyrics are just a form of poetry, but they're even more beautiful because they're put to music.
If that class was offered at my college, I would take it in a heartbeat.
