if you are a beginner i would recommend more of a family child type movie because of its simple language such as lion king - a Disney movie

My wife teaches English as a second language and from what I've seen and learned, her students respond exceptionally well when they read a book first and then watch its movie counterpart. Try this.

A lot of great suggestions already here. I might add that with any dvd that is commercially produced, there are choices in the setup that you can use to learn, as well. Take any movie you like, and change it to the dubbed in English version, then try the subtitles, that way, you can see the spelling, but more importantly, you can read the English, while listening in the original language. (or do both...but sometimes they are not translated the same, and then that can be confusing).
I´ve done this, just for fun, because it´s a good practice tool.
