 Learning Mandarin?
I am learning Mandarin via Text book, but when I finish I will like to graduate to the next level:
I would like to have a Mandarin person in my life that i can practice and increase my Mandarin skills.
Question:
Is it possible to adopt a Chinese adult, have that person live with me, and then when I am finished with him/her buy that person a plane ticket back to China?...I mean, don't misunderstand me, that Chinese person is welcome to be in my life, I'm just thinking of the process from A to Z,...how feasible is such a thing?
Also, I am worried that I may become emotionally attached to my "Chinese person", so I think it would be best if I selected a male Chinese person (you see, I am heterosexual).
Thanks

 Re: Learning Mandarin?
Get an audio course and download Skype. You will make many friends in Mainland China and they will teach you Putonghua if you help them with their English.

 Re: Learning Mandarin?
When you say Mandarin ,I assume you are learning the language. The fastest and easiest, like I said before,is to find a Chinese friend who has a good command of the language himself. You have to listen, and speak all the time to pick it up fast.Friend told me once when I was learning English ,"you have to even think in English" which in this case,Mandarin. You don't have to go to an extent as to adopt a Chinese adult, just get a Chinese friend. If you are learning the Chinese as well, you can try to have a pen pal whom you can learn to write those Chinese characters.Practice makes perfect. The more and longer you write ,the better you'll be.That I promise you.
By the way,we speak 'Mandarin' and we write 'Chinese'.Happy learning.
