Rory McIlroy has moved up to a career-high second in the world after the final round of WGC-HSBC Champions.
22-year-old McIlroy earned the ranking thanks to Titleist AP1 712 Ironsin Sunday's final round that saw him finish fourth, and now finds only Luke Donald between himself and No 1 ranking.
Had he parred the 18th, he would have ended up in a four-way tie for sixth, leaving Lee Westwood in second place in the rankings, but instead he hit a geat approach to the par-five 18th green and two-putted for birdie.( Titleist AP1 712 Irons)
Westwood closed with a disappointing 74 to finish 13th.
Kaymer's victory sees him move back up to fourth in the world, meaning Europe once again has the top four places.
Even though Luke Donald was forced to sit out the event as he awaits the birth of his second daughter, he was too far ahead to be surpassed this week, even if Westwood or McIlroy had won Titleist AP1 712 Irons .
