Post School İn Istanbul Turkey
There are good and bad.

If you dont have a degree you dont get the perks. Even with a degree you sometimes still dont get the perks.

Many say one thing and then dont adhere to their promises. All of them have a probationary period in which you can be used and abused and dumped when the REAL teachers arrive in the summer.

I have heard various things about various schools and schools to avoid.

Wall Street - 1600 month for 30 hours and over. 1 months probation but no guarantee you will be kept on.
Berlitz - Not so truthful about things. Been warned to avoid them.
Gokdıl - 14 Lira an hour- I got offered 30 hours a month to live on??
Dialogue - 16 lira an hour. Good school to work for treats their teachers well in Kadiköy but Bakirköy Dialogue couldnt even be there for the pre arranged interview.
British English - Kadikoy - might take you on then dump you 3 weeks later after using you as a gap filler. Then will arrange for you to have 1 week of observed lessons to frighten you off if they dont really want you.
English Time - totally unorganised organisation. Kadiköy Branch in particular.
English For All - story in another thread.
Istek - Would be a good place to work for if it wasnt for the travel to out of the way places. Ypu need to be prepared to control classes of 30 or more spoilt brats. Paid in Dollars into Lira in your bank.

Good book to get Teaching English Abroad by Sarah Griffiths. Read this book and then decide if this is what you really want to do.

Many cowboy schools out there in Turkey so be warned.

Make sure you got a backup plan if you find yourself lured up there and then no job and no place to live.

I read this article:http://www.internationalteflacademy.com/blog/bid/67235/Turkey-to-Hire-40-000-Qualified-English-Teachers-to-Improve-Turkish-Foreign-Language-Programs
and it may be of interest to others looking to find a job teaching in Turkey. Very cool idea, I'd be curious if anyone on the board knows more about the program.
