Ive had my TEFL since last October.
I did the course in Istanbul ın June 2007. I am currently residing in Fethiye Turkey. I have been back and forth to Istanbul trying to get a job without success. So far I cannot get any teaching experience. I have become discouraged and disheartened. I got offer a job in Ataşehır 2 weeks ago with a school English for All. I packed up all my things and moved to Istanbul. I was told I definitely had the job. Then when I turned up at the school they asked me to do a DEMO lesson. I did my lesson plan on what I was supposed to be doing and the teacher observing me sabotaged my lesson. He gave me false info and did my lesson himself so that when the director came in the class was in chaos and I did not know what I was doing. The Director of this school called me the next day and said sorry you dont have the job. I was absolutely outraged. I had given up my apartment in Fethiye and moved up there as they said they had school accommodation for me.
I have come back to Fethiye now absolutely disillusioned about the whole busisness of teaching abroad on this TEFL. Many of the schools say this and that but if you dont have a degree you are classed as a different category and do not get many of the perks or assistance with this or that.
Because I have not been successful in obtaining a job here - any job not just teaching I have to go back to the UK wıth very little money.
