I recently bought a copy of the Chinese horror film "The Eye", which is about a young blind woman who starts seeing ghosts after getting an eye transplant. It was quite good, and I'm not sure how next year's Hollywood remake with Jessica Alba will be like.

When I checked on the Internet Movie Database for more info about the movie, I was surprised to learn that "The Lake House" (starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock) was actually based on a Korean film.

I was curious if anyone can suggest any recent non-English films (from the 1990s and onward) which were remade by Hollywood over the past decade?

Understand, I'm NOT just talking about Asian horror movies like "The Grudge" or "The Ring", as I'm sure Hollywood has done remakes of non-horror movies from other countries as well.

Has there been anything from France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, etc.?

I would suggest watching "Oldboy" before (and if) the remake comes out it's a really good movie.

There is a movie called "Mostly Martha" which was originally named "Bella Martha" which was a German film.

Mostly Martha was turned into the 2007 movie "No Reservations".

I haven't seen "No Reservations" but I absolutely loved Mostly Martha. I hope that answered your question.

From the 90s:
"Scent of a Woman", American remake of Italian classic "Profumo di Donna" (but the original is from the 70s).
"Point of No Return", remake of French "Le Femme Nikita"
More recent: "The Last Kiss", remake of the Italian successfull movie "L'Ultimo Bacio".
Now there's rumors about a Universal remake of "La Scorta", another Italian movie from the 90s.
Although from the 80s, I think you should also look for "Da Grande" (Italy, 1987) which was the inspiration for "Big", starring Tom Hanks, and "3 Hommes et un Couffin" (France, 1985), "Three Men and a Baby" is the Hollywood remake.

Edit: ah, yes! Also "Twelve Monkeys", great movie. Here at least "La Jetée", the original, was a short.
