
Westwood wins by seven in Thailand
Lee Westwood’s second victory with
PING Men's Scottsdale Carefree Putterin three weeks, his fourth of the year, was his most dominating as he set or tied scoring marks en route to a seven-shot win at the Thailand **** Championship. His opening-round 60 set a course record at the 7,453-yard Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok. He followed with a 64 to equal the Asian Tour’s 36-hole scoring mark at 20 under, building an 11-shot cushion heading to the weekend. He finished 22 under (60-64-73-69) for the wire-to-wire win.
“It means a lot, any win does,” Westwood said of his 37th career title, which will move him up one spot to #2 in the Official World **** Ranking. “It’s special this week because of the difficulty of the course, and whom I was up against this weekend. I am obviously delighted.”
Two weeks earlier, Westwood was the champion of the Nedbank **** Challenge in South Africa. Before heading back to England for the holidays, the 38-year-old was positive about his season and the state of his game. “I’ve played
