 What are some great and easy tips for learning to analyze a book that was written in the 18th centur
This is for my AP. English class! I love Literature and do very well in the class, but sometimes my weakness in analysis really shows! Especially in practically ancient books! Help me Please!!!!!!

Reading it helps. Books should not be 'analyzed'. They should be read and enjoyed, or not. That's it.

Before reading the book, find out the context of when it was written. Find out the year it was published, then look up what major events occured before that year to shape the ideas in the book. Also, find out the history of the writer, for ex. Franz Kafka, born in Germany, non-believing Jew, family killed in concentration camps, etc. Theme for the majority of his stories- alienation
context is really important when reading for allusions/metaphors/etc.
