Re: What are the 3 or 5 best cosmopolitan cities to work in China as a teacher of English?
I taught there for most of a decade. All of China is polluted so you'd better not make that one of your standards for whether you go or not. China makes a lot of pollution and then they have the Gobi too, which is next door and that brings some bad sand storms into China. I would recommend Qingdao. It is a formerly German city so you see a lot of that in the architecture. It is economically sound as the Haier Factory (refrigerators) is there. It is much more modern and cleaner than a lot of other places. They also pay pretty good there in comparison to some other places. It is near the ocean so that always helps as far as getting some fresher air. It also has some nicer shopping malls and you can get most anything you would want as far as foods go. You can e-mail me if you have more questions.
