Post What good books did you use in your TEFL training course?
I have never had formal TEFL training but I have lots of teaching experience in China and US. I am applying for a new job and want to go over the theories, practices etc. before my interview just to make sure it is solid. What books did you use for the course? I would like to go buy a comprehensive one.

Many TEFL training schools use a book they've written or composed themselves. As most schools today subscribe to the same communicative-based method and approaches, a lot of these books are similar.

If you want to find some comprehensive books, check out the following:

Swan, Michael (the master of English grammar) "Practical English Usage" and his "How English Works". These are essential grammar books.

Scrivener, Jim "Learning Teaching" is a comprehensive ESL book. Follow this link to the amazon page and you can find a bunch of other related books:
