I am trying to find an excellent and efficient text book/work book for learning Japanese that doesn't cost 50+ dollars. Right now I have been using Japanese for Young People but there's no English translation except for the vague dictionary in the back and I don't have the tapes nor know where to obtain them. I'm also using a couple of books for memorizing Kanji. Also what are some good free websites?

Try Yookoso! It's a very easy way to learn grammar and it has English and Japanese text. So far its been the most fun for me.
