where can I find students who are interested in teaching English in China in short term.?
I am originally from Hong Kong. Studied and worked in US before. I had 2 undergraduate degrees from OSU and right now I am studying EMBA from U of Minnesota. The final EMBA project is a virtual team project, which is a global effort from all four EMBA programs including China, Polland, Austria, and US. Our project is a English teaching school in China. It was a brilliant idea and I would like to put it in action. Came to China in 2002, this is my fourth years working here, and I want to start this program to let local people to learn English speaking from native English speaking people and on the same token to let US students to travel to China and understand more about China people and its culture. It is a win-win situation.

Hi,
Ask at teacher training colleges here in Australia. I did a course at Holmes College in Melbourne & new English teachers are always wanting to know where to get jobs overseas. You might be able to advertise at these schools. Good luck!

Re: where can I find students who are interested in teaching English in China in short term.?
I would contact universities in the US that have Chinese language programs. You might be able to arrange an offical program with them... maybe students could also study in China and earn language credit?
I would not feel safe signing up for a program over the Internet. There are a lot of "Teach English in China" scams and poor, naive Americans end up in "language sweat camps" where they aren't allowed to leave the school, never get paid, are threatened by their employers, etc.
To any American wanting to teach English in China - make sure you get paid on a weekly or bi-weekly basis! Make sure you pay attention to your hours and get paid correctly. Do not let them "hold" any of your money for you because you will probably never get it. I taught English in China and constantly had to "make up reasons" (i.e. "rent is due") to FORCE my company to pay me every week, and they usually paid me late anyway! Teaching English is a fun, rewarding experience, but beware of companies that WILL take advantage of you if you let them.

Re: where can I find students who are interested in teaching English in China in short term.?
What you propose is not as easy to set up as you imagine.
Tens of thousands of private English training schools already exist in China.
MANY OF THEM ARE OPERATING ILLEGALLY AND ANY FOREIGNER WORKING FOR THEM IS DOING SO ILLEGALLY.
Proper approval of your project would be required by Provincial Education authorities, local Public Security Bureaus, and the relevant National State Bureaus which oversee the regulations governing the issuance of work visas and residence permits to Foreign Experts.
Illegal english schools exist all over China. A teacher or businessman will set up a storefront operation and then illegally hire foreign teachers. The teachers from overseas usually end up in China and work on a tourist visa, because the school does not have the right to legally employ foreigners. Usually younger students, the kind you wish to use, are not aware of the kind of problems they can encounter by taking up such illegal employment.
Only schools approved and licensed by government agencies are legally allowed to hire foreigners and provide an FEC, Residence permit, and work visa to a teacher.
Many foreign teachers in China have been employed by illegal schools and lived to regret it.
I suggest anyone interested in working as a teacher in China do research into SCAMS related to fly by night English training schools in China before taking up a job.
Setting up a LEGAL training school in China which employs foreign teachers is not as easy as the origninal post here would suggest.

I volunteered for a program in China last year. Taught at several school in Guangxi area. I am not sure what you want but I have some sites that might help you and one that might let you advertise for free. Do you know the area you want to work in china. Have you had and interaction with the government. Do you just want students or some old retired teachers like me?
