 Which subject is in more need of teacher in the united states? History, or English? I want to become a teacher, and want to eventually teach both social studies/history and English. I am doing my undergrad right now and need to pick one, which subject could I get hired with?

Re: Which subject is in more need of teacher in the united states? History, or English? NCLB puts the focus on reading/ writing/ math, so. But why not do both of them? I have 4 endorsements- reading, spanish, science and social studies. you can do it!

Re: Which subject is in more need of teacher in the united states? History, or English? Your best bet is to become a qualified math teacher. You will have job security until the age of 100. My mom got hired for the first time in the US at age 54. She had prior math teaching experience outside the US.
You cannot go wrong with Math or Physics.
