I'm not sure if I should chalk this up to laziness or ignorance, but it is extremely annoying. I don't know about others, but I avoid people who write things like: "Wut is ur take on...." or "OMG I rly dnt no wut 2 do!"
I also don't understand the confusion as far as when to use there, their or they're; your or you're etc. Those are mistakes that I see all too often. Don't people care about how the written word impacts the way they are viewed by others?
Finally, I feel the need to address something that I have been seeing quite a bit lately. "Sike" is not a word. Try looking it up.

P.S. The correct word starts with a "p". Interesting. I know.

You know, I have been wondering the same thing. Although part of the problem may be that some never took any sort of typing course, and therefore only know shorthand because they are more self-taught. But I think it may be mainly related to laziness, sadly. Personaly, I think it almost takes longer to type shorthand, but thats probably because I spent years trying to learn how to properly use a keyboard. Of course there is also the spelling issue. People aren't focusing much anymore on learning how to spell things. Perhaps a forgotton art?

well in my case its way more convenent and its fast! is speeds up ur WPM even doe its inproper english!!

Two reasons come to my mind:
1. Laziness
2. Trying to be cool like they think Afercrainiums rap guys are.

Nothing to worry about. Most of those type people have a deep fat fryer in their employment future.

it's actually internet/ or computer lingo that is quite popular. at the least its very convenient, almost a form of short hand. i have started using it myself. kids who use it find it cool and therefore continously use it in their school work and adults have caught on as well. it has nothing to do w/ ignorance more or less laziness.
